Wall Putty or White Cement or Pop

 DIFFERENCE  BETWEEN  WALL PUTTY,  POP   AND  WHITE CEMENT

Wall Putty:- In order to help get a smooth finish, a soft glow in the top coat— wall putty can be applied before painting. Different qualities of wall putty are used according to  individual's  needs.

Advantages of wall putty are:

There are three types of wall putty available in market.

• White cement wall putty

• Made up of white cement, added polymers and minerals.

• Used for both interior and exterior application.



• Acrylic wall putty

• An acrylic and water-based solution.

• Suitable only for interiors.

• Binding quality is inferior to white cement alternative.

• Waterproof Wall putty

• Highly durable with excellent water repellent nature

• White smooth surface finish

• Considerable reduction of paint consumption

• Protection from flaking,

 dampening and peeling off.

POP (Plaster of Paris

• POP (Plaster of Paris) is a fine, gypsum based powder while wall putty is a white cement based solution with added minerals and polymers.

•  POP is used to make ornamental elements and designs on the wall.

• Plaster of Paris is good for its smooth finish and ability to hide small imperfections on the surface.

In the construction industry, Plaster of Paris is used to create  art for adorning and enhancing buildings and other structures. Wood and stone  are very common in historic architecture.So, Artisans used to make sculptures and ornamental metal castings using Plaster of Paris.

• It produces a thick layer, making it resistant to blows.
• It doesn’t develop cracks upon drying since it doesn’t shrink as it hardens.
• It possesses thermal conductivity, preventing heat from being transferred into the structure.
• It may be used as an insulating and fireproofing material.
• Plaster of Paris is the preferred choice for crafting false ceilings use in roofs , mouldings used for corners for adornments due to its lightweight yet durable nature. Ceiling medallions encircle light fixtures, while mouldings enhance the visual appeal of ceilings and walls. 

White cement :-

White cement  contains only portland cement without any minerals added into its formula. Therefore, you cannot use white cement by itself when filling holes or repairing surfaces and not the complete wall.

White cement is quite similar to standard grey cement; the only difference is in the manufacturing process, which results in a whiter product. 

• The use of white cement in marble floor, marble chips/aggregates, and colour pigments in various proportions allows for limitless possibilities in the building of custom designer floors.
• Ceramic tiles, vitrified tiles, and marble floors may all have their gaps filled with white cement. By adding colour to the white cement, you may make the floor seem like a continuous slab of tile.
• After installing ceramic bathroom fixtures, these are utilised as sealants to fill in the gaps.
• White cement is mainly composed of calcium carbonate and other minerals. White cement is very hard after being dried by air, and it will crack when its hardness reaches a certain degree.

Wall putty can be used as a good primer which will seal off porous surfaces, fill small holes or imperfections, and act as a base coat for paint so that it lasts longer. So if you're looking for a quality finish, using wall putty as  primer .
